What a week!

Wow.

I still don’t know how we’ve done it but we did! We somehow condensed 8 shooting days into 5, including constantly changing weather conditions, script adaptation and two sick persons.

Imagen

It was a lot of work to set the rooms as we wanted because all the furniture was old and heavy – and the strength of each one of us has decreased dramatically the last weeks.

Imagen

We also needed some extras for a couple of shots and luckily there were some familiars there around too!

Imagen

That turned out to be crucial because their only presence made us laugh so much that we forgot how tired we were.

Imagen

We also have to thank again to the Urquijo-Montoya family – including dogs.

Imagen

They have supported us so much all this time, letting us be at their place for shooting and giving and offering so much from their own. Without you, it could not have been possible!

black monday

We’ve been prepearing the last shooting week  over the weekend. The plan for today was meeting early in the morning and leave all together towards the house. The whole thing had to be postponed as we got a fine for the camper – which had been parked 10 minutes in that place – and, at the same time, noticed that someone had broken a glass of the mercedes, stealing radio, gps and some props we actually still need.

This is not the way to start the last week!

No words

An email, a phone call and suddenly we find ourselves in the middle of a valley, surrounded by mountains of original forest visiting Benita and Manuel at their house – ‘Come around and have a look’ they said.

Imagen

One single look is by far too little for this place. No matter where you look everything is beautiful and plenty of cinema esthetics – and there is a lot to look at in a 15th century palace.

Imagen

In the very first moment we have known this is the place, we just need to adjust some parts of the script.

And they are so nice – we really had to struggle for not staying there for dinner too!

Still no house

We are having fun here!

The región is amazing, the people are nice and the food is extraordinary – and we even manage to work properly!

Imagen

But we begin to get worried about not finding a house where to shoot the last week. I guess August is not the best month for anything but going on holidays but this is the only time we have and it would be a complete failure if we have to go back home without finishing the shooting.

Imagen

On top, Jonathan had to leave and now we are one person less in a crew that was already small. Hummmm…

Too many options!

Knowing that it was imposible to decide all the locations in advance, the script had left some open space for concrete moments located in the Basque Country. That would be perfect condition for being spontanious if it wasn’t because there are too many cool location possibilities here!

Imagen

It’s easy to imagine a little dialog in every corner we are seeing these days.

Imagen

On the other hand, we are still looking for ‘the house’ – the main location of the film. We are getting close to our last week and there are too many things to do! The body – and the brain – are beginning to get exhausted…

The Bar and the Boss

We still had to find a bar for that scene that was supposed to be shot in France. We asked in the ‘Bar Gaztelumendi’ – one of those where we entered to have the morning ‘pintxo & coffee’ – getting a very nice ‘of course, come tomorrow’.

ImagenImagen

So that wasn’t a problem at all, specially considering that we also needed a ‘french Boss’ for that same scene. After accepting that it was not going to be possible to have Nico comming from Toulouse, we looked over all the persons we know here around for finally finding Iñigo.

Imagen

He has a good face, good mood and good accent!

Imagen

Thanks to him and the incredibly nice people of the ‘Gaztelumendi’ – that let us come in in their day off – we managed to shoot on time.

Au Revoir – Ongi Etorri!

Today we had our last shoot at the beach and it’s time to move on. It’s a pitty because we had begun to get used to have sand everywhere and the nature of the dunes and the forests is extremely beautiful here.

ImagenImagen

But, on the other hand, we arrive to the Basque Country! Our final destination, where we have some important locations to find and many persons to meet.

Now it’s going to get hard to keep the schedule considering all the distractions we are going to find – family, friends, food, fiesta…  it’s going to be a tough week!

Au Voleur!

Today we had a scene in a small supermarket. It was surprisingly easy to find it – we just stopped the night before at the little épicerie of the camping for buying some props we needed and decided to try it.

Imagen

When we contacted Christophe – the owner of the épicerie– and told him what it was about – in the scene the protagonists make a plan for stealing – he laughed out loudly: he had personally experienced that same situation in real life!

Imagen

He was really nice letting us shoot inside during his rest hours. Thank you so much, Christophe!

Finally The Sea!

We have just arrive to Les Landes – french south atlantic coast – very well known for having kilometers of dunes  running in paralel to the ocean.

After almost three weeks of road we all had begun to dream of a refreshing jump into the salty water. And we needed it!!

We still have a lot to shoot here around and the beach – even if it looks awsome on screen – is not precisely a very easy place to do it.

But feeling the energy of the ocean makes it easier somehow.

Two to Toulouse

We are looking forward to arrive to the Atlantic coast of France but we couldn’t miss the chance to stop in Toulouse and let one of those good old friends give us some good tips of where to go for a beer.

Imagen

We wanted also to use the ocasión for shooting a scene located in a bar – Toulouse has some of those – and even put Nico in the role of the nasty boss.

But something that looked so easy considering the place, turned to be more complicated as we thought. What a pitty – we all agreed that he would have been a great choice.

Finally we have just enjoyed a night out in the city and moved on. We would have stayed longer but we can not afford to spend more time without getting material for the film.

De tout façons, merci beaucoup Nico!
